The humane society of north central florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the alachua county humane society, gainesville pet rescue, and helping hands pet rescue decided to permanently join forces.

We have several dogs and cats of all ages looking for a forever home.

The gainesville community joined forces in person and online last month to get wilson, a newly adopted black lab, safely home to clearwater after he was lost in haile plantation.

We are a no kill, all volunteer rescue orgainization dedicated to saving homeless animals, especially cats and kittens.

Gainesville resident robin lamerson, 52, said she visits lebowski’s just as much for her dog as for herself — she’s created a community of friends in the almost two years since she started coming, she said.
